Well, we are now into the third week of June and Summer is in full swing. Things are almost with my home project, the concrete is done, new deck built, columns, installed, new door, new shutters and the upstairs railing is almost finished. Just one more day of work and it will be fully transformed.

Overall I’m very happy with the new look, I think it’s a lot cleaner and more modern. We were almost too late to notice that one of the pillars would have been right in front of our picture window. It hadn’t mattered before since the pillars were wrought iron and more like screens. |
This week our featured website is Grace – A Place of Restoration. Grace is an antiques / interior design store in Missouri which sells architectural salvage, antiques and home decor, they also mention coffee and dessert in their logo which makes it even better. The whole store and overall theme is relaxed beauty. Housed in a former church built in 1854 “Grace” exudes style and well grace. Just seeing this site makes me want to take a trip to Rocheport, MO so I can visit the store in person. I think I see a road trip in my future. Know of a website we should feature on this blog? Hello and welcome to the the second week of May. It’s hard to believe that May is already half over, I swear we just had frost last week. Wait we did have frost last week, that’s Ohio for you. This weekend there are been two events here in Dayton, which make the city come alive with a vibrant night life. The big one is called Urban Nights and it’s a time when businesses throughout downtown stay open late (10 PM) and feature art, sculpture, film and music from locals. The streets are packed and you get to experience a plethora of amazing art, it’s a shame it isn’t like this every weekend. The other event is called A World A’Fair where groups representing about 50 countries set up in our convention center and showcase food, culture and dance from their native country.
Now on to this week’s specials: This month we are still featuring 35% off all Mercury Mosaics ceramic switch plates. If you like great design then this is also a great place to look, with ideas both old and new meant to inspire. Basically this site espouses 10 principles based on the Prairie School and Modernism movements along with lessons from today: Consider the Cost, Form is Function, Less Becomes More, Useful and Beautiful, Informal Meets Elegant, Integrate and Unify, Bring the Outside in, Think Natural, Go Green and Uniquely You. I’ve been reading through this site for quite some time and still keep finding myself amazed. |

They have over 25,000 skyscraper diagrams ordered by height and by city. You can look up your city and see how many skyscrapers they have listed. For the record Dayton has 38 buildings listed with diagrams of 18 of them. |

Hello and welcome to our latest post for April, many of the flowers are blooming as well as allergies. I’ve finally started to catch up on getting my yard in order and start on some of those projects I’ve been waiting all Winter to do. the big question is will I actually have enough time to do them all?

This week we are featuring a site that focuses on ModVic design or Modern Victorian which is also known as Steampunk. If you are unfamiliar with Steampunk think of Jules Vern, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Doc. Brown’s flying locomotive from the end of Back to the Future III and you will get some idea. Hello and welcome Spring is here, even if Winter did make a slight return for a few days of cold temperatures. Despite the cold temperatures I’ve seen plenty of friends and neighbors coming out of their Winter cacoons to start to work on their yards and gardens. I hope everybody is enjoying the snow this week, because there seems to be no way of escaping it. From what I heard all 50 states 
had some snow on the ground this week. This week we travel to Shepperton, Middlesex England to look at a great home interior decorating / remodeling website I came across called Concept Interior. They focus on kitchens and bathrooms, but feature a full range of options for your whole home. they also have an excellent photo galley of past projects. Their tendency is toward open, airy, modern looking designs that blend in with the adjoining rooms to create a natural flow.
This month we have 20% off all diamond plate aluminum switch plates for the hot rod and industrial look. We also recently added the full collection of switch plates, doorbells and wall signs from Flopping Fish. Also, we sadly learned that Mercury Mosaics will no longer be making ceramic switch plates. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving, at least those of you here in the states. I’m starting to see people putting up their Holiday decorations and I’m getting ready to do that as well tomorrow. We are now midway into November and it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Around here all the leaves have fallen and the weather is turning colder, which is a great time to spruce up the outside of your house and add a splash of interest. A new set of house numbers can add a splash of visual interest to any home.
