Well, we are now into the third week of June and Summer is in full swing. Things are almost with my home project, the concrete is done, new deck built, columns, installed, new door, new shutters and the upstairs railing is almost finished. Just one more day of work and it will be fully transformed.

Overall I’m very happy with the new look, I think it’s a lot cleaner and more modern. We were almost too late to notice that one of the pillars would have been right in front of our picture window. It hadn’t mattered before since the pillars were wrought iron and more like screens. |
This week our featured website is Grace – A Place of Restoration. Grace is an antiques / interior design store in Missouri which sells architectural salvage, antiques and home decor, they also mention coffee and dessert in their logo which makes it even better. The whole store and overall theme is relaxed beauty. Housed in a former church built in 1854 “Grace” exudes style and well grace. Just seeing this site makes me want to take a trip to Rocheport, MO so I can visit the store in person. I think I see a road trip in my future. Know of a website we should feature on this blog? I did not do a post last week since I was in Chicago, but I did end up going to the wonderful Chicago Art Institute where they had a special exhibit on Matisse. Unfortunately they did not allow any photography. However, I did get some other photos in the museum along with the surrounding Millennium / Grant Park. Hi and welcome to the end of February. The past few weeks have been really big for us. We just moved into our new place at the Front Street Arts Complex and have been getting everything arranged. We have over twice as much space now and are surrounded by artists of all types: potters, sculpters, wood workers, painters, photographers, printers, etc. We’re really looking forward to being a part of this community.
This week we feature a great blog Apartment Therapy with the apt subtitle – “Saving the World, One Room at a Time”. My favorite feature is the home tours section where homeowners send in pictures and a walk through of their home and then receive comments and suggestions from other readers. A fun community and a great place to pick up ideas regardless of your style. Beware you can easly blow through a few hours on this site before you realize it.

Hello and welcome to the last posting of January. Winter and all of the cold is now upon us and it’s a great time to stay inside. This week I have a site to share from a home remodeler in Minneapolis who specializes in basements 
and bath remodeling: Jeffrey Grosscup. The site itself primary lets the designs speak for themselves. With great photography of the wide open and well lit rooms it’s hard not to feel inspired by his designs. There are some great before and after shots of some projects which show just how dramatic the changes have been.

We are now midway into November and it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Around here all the leaves have fallen and the weather is turning colder, which is a great time to spruce up the outside of your house and add a splash of interest. A new set of house numbers can add a splash of visual interest to any home.

Paint It – Use the same paint used on the surrounding walls for an exact match. The coverPlug is made of a material that is paintable.
Press It Into Place – The posts on the back of the coverPlug align with the ground openings of a double outlet. No tools are necessary; just press it firmly into place. Remove the coverPlug if the outlet is needed and repaint/re-use as your decor changes.
Outlets Disappear – The entire outlet is covered and, when painted, the coverPlug will blend perfectly with the surrounding wall. Removable by an adult, but secure enough that a child will not be able to pull it out. By creating seamless walls, the coverPlug provides a visual and physical barrier to the outlet.
