Hello and welcome to end of August. School is back in season and the temperature has started to cool off. It has really been great weather to finish up all of those outdoor projects that I was putting off due to the heat of Summer. On the list later today is cleaning up the shelves in the garage.
This week our featured website is the site for McHale Landscape Design Inc. They are a landscape / hardscape design company based in Maryland. They focus on four primary areas landscaping, masonry, carpentry and maintenance, the last being important to make sure their plans are continually implemented properly. My favorite part of their website is their photo gallery which highlights about 100 projects which they have completed. Overall the site could use some design and layout work, but I find their photo gallery to be very useful when thinking of design ideas. (Know of a website we should feature on this blog? Now on to this week’s special: From now until the end of August we are featuring 10% off All Fired Up ceramic switch plates and house numbers. All Fired Up! is a small family-owned ceramics company founded in 1984 in Milton, Ontario, Canada. Hello and welcome to the the second week of May. It’s hard to believe that May is already half over, I swear we just had frost last week. Wait we did have frost last week, that’s Ohio for you. This weekend there are been two events here in Dayton, which make the city come alive with a vibrant night life. The big one is called Urban Nights and it’s a time when businesses throughout downtown stay open late (10 PM) and feature art, sculpture, film and music from locals. The streets are packed and you get to experience a plethora of amazing art, it’s a shame it isn’t like this every weekend. The other event is called A World A’Fair where groups representing about 50 countries set up in our convention center and showcase food, culture and dance from their native country.
Now on to this week’s specials: This month we are still featuring 35% off all Mercury Mosaics ceramic switch plates. I’ve been reading through this site for quite some time and still keep finding myself amazed. |

Hello and welcome to the first week of March. With today’s weather it definitely feels like Spring is on it’s way. I’m starting to categorize all of the projects around our house and the new warehouse space.
One thing we’re trying this year is to look at one room each week and see what little changes and minor fixes we can make to it without spending too much money. We started with the master bathroom and have been taking care of all those nagging little problems that just keep getting put off. We’ve also started changing small bits of decor, like the heat vent, that just didn’t match the rest of the room. (We had a white heat vent while all of the other hardware in the room is wrought iron.) The little bits of change have cost us under $100, but the difference has been amazing. We’re going to try and carry this on through the whole house taking on one room over the course of one to two weeks. Next week I’ll get some before and after shots.
This week we are featuring one of my favorite online furniture stores, Art Van Furniture from Michigan. They are a chain, but only have stores in one state so I just look at them online. One of the most useful features of their site is their Room Planner. You can use this tool to draw a custom sized room and then use their icons to see how you’d like to lay things out. You can even save and print your rooms. It’s a great idea planner and is helpful even if you aren’t in the market for new furniture.

I hope everybody is enjoying the snow this week, because there seems to be no way of escaping it. From what I heard all 50 states 
had some snow on the ground this week. This week we travel to Shepperton, Middlesex England to look at a great home interior decorating / remodeling website I came across called Concept Interior. They focus on kitchens and bathrooms, but feature a full range of options for your whole home. they also have an excellent photo galley of past projects. Their tendency is toward open, airy, modern looking designs that blend in with the adjoining rooms to create a natural flow.
This month we have 20% off all diamond plate aluminum switch plates for the hot rod and industrial look. We also recently added the full collection of switch plates, doorbells and wall signs from Flopping Fish. Also, we sadly learned that Mercury Mosaics will no longer be making ceramic switch plates. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving, at least those of you here in the states. I’m starting to see people putting up their Holiday decorations and I’m getting ready to do that as well tomorrow. While you’re in the mood for Winter and the Holidays take a look at our Winter / Christmas Switch Plates, there are over fifty styles to choose from. Whether you like snowmen, Santa or just winter scenes you’re sure to find something that you like.

This switch plate Features licensed artwork from Russian-born painter and writer Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), one of the most influential abstract art pioneers. His color study “Farbstudie Quadrate” is among his best known work and makes a wonderful addition to almost any room.
These individually handcrafted mini pieces of art are mounted on standard switch plates, then sealed to prevent scratching or water damage. Each one is packaged in a see-through gift bag. Made in Southern California.
