Hello and welcome to the the second week of May. It’s hard to believe that May is already half over, I swear we just had frost last week. Wait we did have frost last week, that’s Ohio for you. This weekend there are been two events here in Dayton, which make the city come alive with a vibrant night life. The big one is called Urban Nights and it’s a time when businesses throughout downtown stay open late (10 PM) and feature art, sculpture, film and music from locals. The streets are packed and you get to experience a plethora of amazing art, it’s a shame it isn’t like this every weekend. The other event is called A World A’Fair where groups representing about 50 countries set up in our convention center and showcase food, culture and dance from their native country.
Now on to this week’s specials: This month we are still featuring 35% off all Mercury Mosaics ceramic switch plates. If you like great design then this is also a great place to look, with ideas both old and new meant to inspire. Basically this site espouses 10 principles based on the Prairie School and Modernism movements along with lessons from today: Consider the Cost, Form is Function, Less Becomes More, Useful and Beautiful, Informal Meets Elegant, Integrate and Unify, Bring the Outside in, Think Natural, Go Green and Uniquely You. I’ve been reading through this site for quite some time and still keep finding myself amazed. |

Hello and welcome to the first week of Spring. The weather is great out and we already have some early flowers blooming. Hi and welcome to the end of February. The past few weeks have been really big for us. We just moved into our new place at the Front Street Arts Complex and have been getting everything arranged. We have over twice as much space now and are surrounded by artists of all types: potters, sculpters, wood workers, painters, photographers, printers, etc. We’re really looking forward to being a part of this community.
This week we feature a great blog Apartment Therapy with the apt subtitle – “Saving the World, One Room at a Time”. My favorite feature is the home tours section where homeowners send in pictures and a walk through of their home and then receive comments and suggestions from other readers. A fun community and a great place to pick up ideas regardless of your style. Beware you can easly blow through a few hours on this site before you realize it.
This is our final two days of 20% off all diamond plate aluminum switch plates for the hot rod and industrial look. Starting March First we will putting all of the wonderful Rosalie Sherman Designs on sale. Also, we sadly learned that Mercury Mosaics will no longer be making ceramic switch plates. Hello and welcome to the last posting of January. Winter and all of the cold is now upon us and it’s a great time to stay inside. This week I have a site to share from a home remodeler in Minneapolis who specializes in basements 
and bath remodeling: Jeffrey Grosscup. The site itself primary lets the designs speak for themselves. With great photography of the wide open and well lit rooms it’s hard not to feel inspired by his designs. There are some great before and after shots of some projects which show just how dramatic the changes have been.

Well, 2010 is now in full swing and I’m looking at the many projects I want to get done around the house. Always a great time to go out looking for inspiration, and I found a great blog this week 
relating to design and decor called Vamp Decor. It features all manner of furniture and architectural design elements. The suite isn’t very old, but I love the ideas they have posted and see it as a great place to get some good ideas.

December is now in full swing and we are getting a good taste of it here in Ohio. No real snow on the ground, but it sure is cold. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving, at least those of you here in the states. I’m starting to see people putting up their Holiday decorations and I’m getting ready to do that as well tomorrow. While you’re in the mood for Winter and the Holidays take a look at our Winter / Christmas Switch Plates, there are over fifty styles to choose from. The weather has started to turn colder and the leaves have main fallen, at least here in the Mid-West. As we start to head into the Holiday season, now is the time to think about your front entry and updating it for when your guests arrive. We were able to acquire more discontinued nickel plated solid brass doorbells from SPI Home and have them at 35% off. We have also added quite a few more designs to our house numbers, door bells and door knocker lines. We will also be adding more holiday themed switch plates in the next week or two.
